Umpleby's Bakery & Café

Just saw an article in the Times about the idea of putting peas in guacamole.  I was so shocked by the proposition that I had to write here on the website.   I know I’m a white guy born in Ohio and now lives in the Northeast, about the furthest one can get from the places where avocados are grown, but I DO KNOW that putting peas in guacamole is simply ridiculous. Peas have no business whatsoever being in guac. I don’t care what Sam Sifton thinks.  This will probably be the only thing EVER that President Obama, Jeb and I agree on.    The next thing you’re going to tell me is it is okay make a martini with vodka!

We will be closed this Saturday, the 4th of July so the staff can go to all the outdoor b-b-q’s and cookouts this weekend.  We will be open our regular hours on Sunday.  And we WILL be at the Norwich Farmers Market this Saturday.

The Supreme Court appears to be on a roll!  The sandwich special tomorrow will be The Obergefell.
