On March 1st things will start going green

imagesOne day is not enough to celebrate the unique food of Ireland and specifically the fun themed possibilities of St. Patrick’s Day so starting this friday we start going GREEN.   Look for shamrock sugar cookies, Irish Soda bread,  Jameson’s Pecan or Walnut Tarts and Guinness Brown Bread.   And that is just the beginning – a full menu to follow in the days to come!   About the GBB,  on the days we offer it I highly recommend ordering a Peter Lake using that bread.  Your taste buds will thank you, your soul will thank you, and your belly will thank you.    And I will thank you for trying it!

Hamantaschen tomorrow and up until Sunday, Feb 24th

UnknownA customer asked me today if I was going to make Hamantaschen for the Jewish Holiday Purim.   I’m glad she asked because I think that is a great cookie!   It gives me a chance to make poppy seed and prune fillings which, in my opinion, are two of the most under-rated fillings out there.    So we will have them in the cookie case starting tomorrow and up until the 24th of February.

Éirinn go Brách – St. Patrick’s Day approaches

images-1The countdown begins.  One month until St. Patrick’s Day!  Why is this so important to chronicle?  I’ll tell you why.  There are a lot, and I mean a lot of fun things to cook and bake (and drink) for St. Patrick’s Day! In a way it’s more fun than Easter or Christmas.  There is traditional lunch food, traditional desserts, traditional baked goods and it doesn’t revolve around chocolate which is quite a relief in a way.  I’ll explain more in further posts.  The important thing now is to get excited about the approaching holiday!  And Éirinn go Brách !  My mother’s maiden name is Dugan I’ll have you know!
